A Dryer is a hard-working appliance. Much like a refrigerator it needs monthly and annual maintenance check-ups to stay running efficiently. Here are some do-it-yourself maintenance tips to keep your machine running smoothly for years to come.
1. Clean the vent pipe once a year.
The vent pipe is located at the back of a dryer and it’s usually made of aluminum. To clean the vent pipe you can buy a special brush specifically made for cleaning dryer vents. The brush is a long wire with a handle on one end and a soft bristle brush at the other end. Unhook the vent line from your dryer, then push the brush through several times to remove lint and debris.
2. Clean the interior of the dryer cabinet once a year.

3. Clean the lent filter after everyuse.
When cleaning the lent filter check for rips and tears in the filter and replace if necessary. To clean the lent filter simply use your hands to remove lent. To remove any residue from frabric softeners use a soft bristle brush and a little detergent.
4. Clean the area under the lent filter.
Often times lent will get caught in the duct that the lent filter fits into. To clean this area use a vacuum cleaner to remove lent and any other debris.
